Canada's national bird, the common loon is famous from
its appearance on the millions of dollar coins. These coins are
referred to as 'a loonie&' from the bird pictured on
the face.
The loon is a water bird slightly larger than a duck and can be
found all over Canada.
Perhaps the commonest duck in the world. The mallard is no
stranger to Canada and can be found all over the country. This pair
followed me on a walk in Stanley Park, Vancouver.
